Brocchure/Business Card/Letterhead

This is my final business card for my company. I used a collection of all 3 programs to make this. I edited the lightning stock photo in photoshop simply by changing the blending mode, rotating and resizing the image. The overall graphic was created in illustrator, and laid  out in InDesign.
This is my final letterhead I created in illustrator. I tried to keep things simple and use reoccurring images from the business card to help show unity. I simply lowered the opacity on the 'z' and placed the main logo on the top of the page next to the company information.

This is my final brochure for the company. I tried to use colors that stood out and attracted the eye and used bold fonts to grab attention. The brochure includes projects and images I made from illustrator, and photoshop. The final version was laid out in indesign. I tried to space things out as best as possible so it wouldn't seem too tacky and cluttered. All images used were either downloaded from (http://www.stockfreeimages.com) or created/enhanced in Photoshop.

Sketches

These are my 5 sketches for the business card. My company (E-Bladez) is an electric rollerblade product that can get people from point A to point B with little to no effort by the user. For each sketch, I made sure to include the basic title along with information about the company such as email, web, phone and address.

This is the brochure sketch for my project. I laid out each page individually and talked about the product on most of the pages. The brochure will be a combination of pictures and text all relating to E-Bladez.

These are my sketches for the letterhead. For these I decided to keep it as simple as possible. I most likely will end up varying these from their original design, but the overall concept will remain the same

Corporate Identity Questionaire

1)   What is your business?
We make electric-powered roller blades

2)   Describe your business in one sentence
We make professional grade blades for people of all skill levels and ages

3)   Who is your target audience?
Kids, teenagers, young adults, adventurists, extreme athletes, skaters

4)   Who are your competitors?
Blind, Circa, Alien Workshop, Rollerblade, Etnies, DC

5)   What makes them better/worse than your product/service?
Blind primarily focuses on skateboards and decks; Circa, DC, and Etnies are more geared toward there apparel; Alien workshop neglects roller blade

6)   Do you currently have an identity?  (This is more for companies that are already established and you’re just revamping the logo/corporate identity.  If you have a new company or product, skip this question.)
Why is this important:  If you’re an established company with a well-known logo, you may not want to deviate too extremely from it.

7)   (If your answer to #6 is no, skip this question)  What do you like about it and what don’t you like about it?
Why is this important?  Even if you plan to change the logo entirely, it’s good to keep an inventory about what specifically worked and didn’t work about your previous design in order to inform the new one.

These following questions might seem silly, but their purpose is to help generate ideas.
1)   How do you want your image to be seen in two years?
I want this company to be seen nationwide at large skating events and one day the X Games

2)   If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why?
A gazelle because with our electric rollerbaldes, not only can you move automatically, the option to ride manually is still available, allowing for speed, shiftiness, and sharpness like never before

3)   If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why?
Shaun White, because he is an extreme skater who can ride just about any board or skates and represents the youth of skating today

4)   If your company/brand was an object, what would it be?
Electric Roller baldes (E-Bladez)

5)   If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be?
Otto from RockerPower, an extreme cartoon about young kids doing extreme sports

Lyrical College

I used many layer masks and used various selection tools to get each character cropped out of there respected original photographs. The flames were copied multiple times to string them across the bottom screen and tweaked with a slight glow and an element of smoke was added for realism. The text includes many layer style effects and was darkened to help it fit in more with the color correction of the picture. Usually I would make the title brighter, but not for this particular project. I don't consider the title the most important part of this image, more so the rappers.

Custom graphic

For this graphic, I used a lot of brush artwork to create a realistic solar system. I created my own brush pattern for the earth shapes and made sure to include many gradient overlays in my shapes. I was able to get pretty nice glow effects without using too many preset Photoshop effects. For some reason the glow effects are exaggerated and too strong on this version of my image, but the overall effect remains the same. For the sun rays I used the grass brush then added a glow along with the smudge tool and streaks from other brushes with lower opacity

In this assignment, I made use of the skewing options in the free transform tool. By Adding many gradients and brushes, I was able to achieve a glowing sign effect featuring myself on the billboard. I added simple text "just do it" and the signature nike check, and before I knew it, I had a nike sponsored poster

For this project I decided to outline LeBron James. I used many layers of vector art and made sure to keep every layer named and organized. I incorporated many reflections and bright sports to help give definition to the muscle tone by simply drawing white shapes and blurring them while lowering their opacity. Gradients played a huge role in making this piece pop. There is a gradient on just about every portion of this illustration, from the background to the sneakers. I used a gradient mesh on the shirt and the face, and added shadows in the ceiling to give it that 3d effect.

Here are my 5 logo sketches for my product, E-Bladez, the worlds first electric rollerblades

Monday, October 7, 2013

This is the logo i decided to choose for my fictional company. This product, E-Bladez is a revolutionary product that will revolutionize the way we get around. For the design, I decided to go with a simpler approach by focusing more on the text/typography rather than an actual logo illustration. I want the text alone to be recognizable enough too not need a graphic. I simply just took a simple text (Impact) and converted it to a graphic. Then I placed a thin stroke around the text and used the 3d bevel effect give it that 3-dimensional appearance. I then had to outline the path of the stroke to restore the line that was originally there but was hidden because of the 3d effect. By placing a gradient on the 'Z' I was able to show movement with the flames at the tail end which helps represent the motion of the product.

The McDonald's logo is a very simple, yet iconic logo design. It is known that the color red affects the brains appetite. The golden arches are creating the letter 'M' which obviously stands for "McDonald's"

The Hot Wheels logo uses flames to reflect the name "Hot Wheels". The way the text is organized helps to show movement and speed,  which are to qualities there products represent

Noodles and Company took a more direct approach and clearly display noodles and a spoon on there logo. Notice, this restaurant company also incorporated the color red, which can mentally make one think they are hungry and increase their appetite

Domino's also took a literal approach to their logo by incorporating an actual domino in their design. Text is laid out simply and easy to read for their customers. And, once again, there is the inclusion of the color red.

The Fedex logo is quite simple, to the ordinary eye. They tried to be subtle with there representation of what their company does, which is deliver packages. If you look closely, you'll notice between the 'E' and the 'X' there is the illusion of an arrow. This was no accident, this shows there is movement, as in "moving" things from one place to another, or delivery.

5 Ideas for Fictional Company

1.) Holness Landscaping: This logo should represent the service provided by the landscaping company, which is: Cutting, Mowing, Trimming/Edging customers lawns. some form of equipment (lawnmower, edger, etc.) should be included as well as easy-to-read text showing the company name. 2.) Keyboard Projector: This logo is going to be one of the more simple logos of the group. It should simply display a model of the product in action, along with the brand name. 3.) Youth Basketball Organization: For this logo, I am thinking of having a basketball image as the centerpiece with arcing text around both sides with the words; "youth" and "association" around them 4.) Electric Roller-Blades A simple image of the designed product with a slanted streaky text under the wheels of the blade (on fire) 5.) Reaching All Youth: An organization benefiting under privileged youth. Hands with a globe in hand, wings, basketball, the whole 9 yards

Project 1: ASCII

For this project, I thought it would be cool to do a 3d drawing of a simple house. I tried to incorporate elements like a gradient sky and a small pond outside of the home to help with the realism of the overall picture. As this is my first time with html coding, the overall project came out successful. The graph drawing made things a lot easier with the overall layout and direction of the lines in the image and helped keep things organized and simple in the coding process. references:http://www.html5canvastutorials.com/tutorials/html5-canvas-tutorials-introduction/

What's up everybody, I'm Andrew Holness and this is my blog. Hopefully I get a good grade for this, but if I don't, its whatever.. I'm from Jacksonville, Florida and I love making music, playing basketball and hanging out. I hope to expand on my graphic design knowledge by taking this class and learning some new techniques that I didn't already know before. Well, thats it... Peace
